Erik Nichols (J.D. Briggs) was born to a musical household, his father was a singer/songwriter who shared
all types of music with his children. From Mozart to Dean Martin, from Garth Brooks, to Soundgarden &
everything in between, Erik was encouraged to embrace the magic of sound.
At the age of 12, Erik received his first guitar. He studied guitar with renowned jazz musician Tony Palkovic
& continued studying his instrument throughout his high school & college years. One of the first songs
Erik mastered on guitar was Don Mclean’s, “American Pie”. Erik began exploring his vocal talent in high
school as a member & soloist of the Temecula Valley High School Chamber Singers.
Erik began writing original music at age 14 & worked to hone his craft from then forward.
Erik’sfirst E.P. “Get The Light On Your Way Out” consisted of all original material, recorded while attending
college in McKinney, Texas. Not long after, Erik returned to California & began gigging locally at festivals
& clubs as a guitarist & singer in an acoustic duet & then in his father’s cover band, The Wi-Fi’s. Erik soon
left to continue work on his original material as singer/songwriter J.D. Briggs.
J.D. notes among his influences, Stevie Ray Vaughn, The Beatles, Tim McGraw & Journey.
In 2017 J.D. was awarded first runner up as Best Male Entertainer & first runner up Best Male Vocalist in
the West Coast Country Music Association Annual Awards. J.D.’s music is an energetic original sound that
is uniquely his own. J.D. is a prolific & talented writer / musician whose music moves his audience to
dance, sing, smile & weep…
